Kumis production in Kazakhstan has increased

Kumis output rose amid a decline in shubat production

The Bureau of National Statistics published data on the production of traditional beverages ahead of the Nauryz holiday. According to the released information, kumis production in the country increased by 11.8% in the first two months of the current year.

In January–February, Kazakhstan produced 215 tons of kumis, which is 23 tons more compared to the same period in 2025.

At the same time, a decrease in shubat production was recorded. In the first two months of 2026, the output of the camel milk-based drink amounted to 206 tons, which is 58 tons less than in the same period last year. The decline is estimated at 22.2%.

At the end of 2025, kumis production reached 1,126 tons, which is 4.3% lower than the previous year. Meanwhile, shubat production for the same period amounted to 1,425 tons, showing an increase of 27.6%.
