Kazakhstan and Russia agree on measures against locust pests for 2026

The joint plan is aimed at protecting agricultural land from locusts

Kazakhstan and Russia have agreed to prepare and sign a joint action plan aimed at preventing the spread of locust pests in border areas in 2026.

The decision was made following a working meeting involving representatives of the State Inspection Committee in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

During the discussions, the parties reviewed the current phytosanitary situation and outlined measures to strengthen cooperation in monitoring, timely detection of pest outbreaks, and implementation of protective measures.

Special attention was given to coordinating the actions of the relevant services of both countries and organizing effective information exchange during the growing season.

It is expected that the implementation of the joint plan will ensure coordinated actions, improve the effectiveness of measures to protect agricultural crops, and reduce the risks of locust spread. In addition, the document will contribute to strengthening phytosanitary security and preserving crop yields.
