Spring Sowing 2025: Over 908 Thousand Hectares of Agricultural Land Sown in Kazakhstan
908.5 thousand hectares of agricultural crops have been sown in Kazakhstan, with the southern regions leading the campaign.
The sowing campaign in Kazakhstan is progressing actively: according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of today, 908.5 thousand hectares of agricultural land have been sown. The main activities are concentrated in the southern regions of the country.
The largest sown areas are recorded in Zhambyl Region — 295.5 thousand hectares, Turkistan Region — 263.5 thousand hectares, Jetisu Region — 142.2 thousand hectares, and Almaty Region — 123 thousand hectares. Other regions are also actively participating: 33.4 thousand hectares have been sown in Kyzylorda Region, 30.1 thousand hectares in West Kazakhstan Region, 2.7 thousand hectares in Atyrau Region, and 15.7 thousand hectares in the city of Shymkent.
The structure of the sown areas is currently distributed as follows:
• Grain crops occupy 459.4 thousand hectares;
• Forage crops — 159.9 thousand hectares;
• Vegetable crops — 46.9 thousand hectares;
• Potatoes — 18.2 thousand hectares;
• Melons — 35.3 thousand hectares;
• Oilseeds — 114 thousand hectares;
• Cotton — 43.9 thousand hectares.
As noted by the Ministry of Agriculture, preparatory work is also proceeding at a high level. Moisture closure has been completed over an area of 10.7 million hectares, pre-sowing treatment over 2.5 million hectares, and spring plowing over 1.1 million hectares.
The provision of necessary resources to farmers is proceeding according to schedule. According to the Ministry, the plan for the application of mineral fertilizers in 2025 amounts to 1.9 million tonnes. Contracts have already been signed for the supply of 752.8 thousand tonnes of fertilizers, of which 504.9 thousand tonnes have already been delivered to farms.
The supply of diesel fuel is also proceeding according to the approved schedule: as of today, 152.3 thousand tonnes have been shipped to farmers.
Regarding seed materials, the Ministry reports that of the 2.3 million tonnes required this year, 1.6 million tonnes have already passed preliminary quality inspections, with 99% of them deemed viable.
Overall, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the current agricultural season is developing in accordance with the approved plans. All necessary measures are being taken to successfully complete the spring sowing campaign of 2025.
