Kazakhstan Continues to Increase Wheat Flour Production
821 thousand tonnes of flour produced in Q1 2025 — up 8% year-on-year

Kazakhstan is showing a steady growth in the production of wheat and rye-wheat flour. According to recent official statistics, domestic processors produced approximately 821 thousand tonnes of flour in the first three months of 2025 — 8% more compared to the same period last year.
March was particularly notable, with a production volume of 290.5 thousand tonnes, marking the highest monthly figure in the past five months. In February 2025, the output was around 285 thousand tonnes, while in March 2024 it stood at 261.6 thousand tonnes.
This growth is driven by the stable operations of processing enterprises as well as increasing demand both domestically and internationally. Industry experts note that the flour milling sector remains a key segment of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex, playing a crucial role in food security and supporting the country’s export potential.
In terms of regional performance, Kostanay Region remains the traditional leader, with around 250 thousand tonnes produced in January–March 2025. Significant increases were also recorded in Shymkent and the North Kazakhstan Region, with 119 and 117 thousand tonnes respectively — both showing marked growth from the previous year.
Overall, the current dynamics reflect a positive trend in the flour industry. With favorable market conditions, experts forecast a continued strengthening of Kazakhstan’s position both at home and abroad.
