Kazakhstan to Resume Subsidies for John Deere Machinery Under Localization Conditions
The Ministry of Agriculture will resume subsidies for John Deere and partners — but only for equipment manufactured in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan plans to reinstate subsidies for agricultural machinery from John Deere and its partner brands — but only if the equipment is produced locally. Amendments to the Rules for Subsidizing Investment Costs in the Agro-Industrial Complex are currently being prepared to enable this.
The subsidies will apply to machinery manufactured under the 2025 Localization Roadmap. The list includes grain, forage, and cotton harvesters; tractors; seeders; sprayers; cultivators; balers; and other equipment.
In May 2024, Kazakhstan canceled subsidies for imported agricultural machinery if local alternatives were available. At that time, 59.6% of the total subsidies went to foreign brands, reducing the competitiveness of domestic factories. After the reform, the share of subsidies for imported machinery was reduced sixfold — to 6.5 billion tenge.
The return of support under localization requirements is expected to strengthen domestic production and level the playing field for market participants.
