Prices for sunflower seeds have increased in Kazakhstan

This week the market of Kazakhstan faced with the growth of prices for sunflower seeds. The main reason for this trend was the seasonal decrease in stocks of raw materials at agrarians, which inevitably led to an increase in price. Despite possible concerns, there are no serious problems with purchases at the moment.

According to the latest data, prices for oilseeds on May 15 were set in the range from 135 to 160 thousand tenge per ton, which is 5-10 thousand tenge higher than the previous week. Experts note that such price fluctuations are typical for this time of year, when the harvest is just about to be gathered, and stocks of the previous year are depleting.

Market analysts continue to monitor the situation to assess how future harvests and possible changes in export policy may affect prices in the coming months.

As a reminder, Kazakhstan is expected to see a significant increase in the area under oilseeds in 2024. The area under oilseeds is projected to increase to 5 million hectares by 2027, up from 3.4 million hectares in 2022.
