3.6 thousand violations in plant quarantine identified in Kazakhstan

Enhanced border control and digital solutions enable rapid risk detection in the movement of quarantined products

In 2025, phytosanitary inspectors identified 3.6 thousand violations in the field of plant quarantine. Control over the movement of quarantined products is carried out in accordance with national legislation and the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The phytosanitary control system in the country is built on a multi-level principle. Initial inspections are conducted by state inspectors at the border, followed by secondary inspections at the destination. This approach allows for timely risk identification and prevents the import of dangerous quarantine organisms.

According to territorial inspections of the State Inspection Committee in the agro-industrial complex of the Ministry of Agriculture, 3.6 thousand violations were recorded during the reporting period, of which 2.6 thousand were related to the import of quarantined products.

The increase in detected cases, including those in imported goods, indicates strengthened control measures and improved efficiency of phytosanitary supervision.

As part of system modernization, digital solutions are being implemented to ensure traceability of products at all stages of their movement. All 32 control posts on the border with the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic are equipped with stable internet access, enabling оперативный data exchange and increasing transparency of procedures.

At the same time, laboratory infrastructure is being upgraded: branches are equipped with modern diagnostic equipment, including PCR systems, which significantly improves the accuracy and speed of examinations.

Thus, the current plant quarantine system in Kazakhstan demonstrates high efficiency, ensuring reliable protection of the country’s territory from phytosanitary threats and supporting the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
