The Ministry of Agriculture announced plans to open meat exports
The government intends to maintain a balance between exports and domestic prices
Kazakh meat producers should generate additional income by supplying foreign markets offering more attractive pricing conditions, while maintaining price stability within the country. This was stated by Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov during a government briefing.
According to him, the current export restrictions will be lifted once production volumes increase to a level that eliminates the risk of shortages on the domestic market.
The Vice Minister noted that the livestock development plan adopted this year предусматривает a significant increase in the number of large and small livestock. At the same time, poultry farming and other livestock sectors, including rabbit breeding, are being developed.
Azat Sultanov emphasized that producers’ arguments about the need to raise prices do not necessarily imply an increase in domestic prices. He pointed to external markets with higher price profitability, including Uzbekistan, Turkey, as well as cross-border trade opportunities with China and the Russian Federation.
“Once growth in livestock numbers and meat production is ensured, the existing restrictions will be lifted. This will provide substantial support to farmers, as they will be able to earn on foreign markets,” the Vice Minister said.
At the same time, he stated that the government will continue to monitor the domestic market. The authorities intend to prevent a repeat of sharp increases in beef prices by expanding supply within the country.
