Construction of a seed processing plant will begin in 2026 in East Kazakhstan

The project is aimed at strengthening domestic seed production

In 2026, construction of a modern plant for processing oilseed and cereal crop seeds will begin at the East Kazakhstan Agricultural Experimental Station. The project is being implemented as a state investment initiative and is aimed at strengthening the national seed production system, as well as reducing farmers’ dependence on imported seeds. This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture.

The launch of the high-tech complex will make it possible to supply agricultural producers with high-quality soybean seeds and sunflower hybrids adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of Northern and Eastern Kazakhstan.

The experimental station is already carrying out systematic breeding and seed production work to develop high-yielding, early and fast-maturing soybean varieties and sunflower hybrids. The enterprise has the status of an elite seed farm and is the originator of varieties and hybrids of sunflower, soybean, spring and winter wheat, as well as forage crops.

The future plant is designed as a fully digital complex equipped with modern high-tech machinery that will ensure seed cleaning rates of 95–99%. The processing will include fractionation, cleaning, treatment, dressing, and packaging.

The production capacity for cereal commodity crops will be 40 tons per hour, and for sunflower — 20 tons per hour. In seed mode, productivity will reach 20 tons per hour for cereals and 5 tons per hour for sunflower.
