🌾 Vice Premier: Kazakhstan Government Does Not Plan to Introduce Export Duties on Grain

🔹 Vice Premier Serik Zhumangarin confirmed that the issue of introducing export customs duties on grain crops is not currently being discussed at the government level.

🔹 The introduction of duties could negatively impact exports, considering the significant volumes of grain production in Kazakhstan.

🔹 The government takes into account all aspects of the agro-industrial complex's activities, striving for a balance of interests between producers and the national economy.

In response to rumors circulating in farming circles about the potential introduction of an export customs duty on grain crops, the Vice Premier of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Serik Zhumangarin, made an official statement on social networks.

Zhumangarin emphasized that the issue of introducing such measures is not currently under discussion at the government level. "The government regularly considers various scenarios to increase budget revenues, however, the Ministry of Finance's proposals for introducing export customs duties on grain crops must be thoroughly analyzed for their economic viability and compliance with Kazakhstan's international obligations," he stated.

Kazakhstan, one of the world leaders in wheat exports, produces about 19-21 million tons of grain annually, with domestic consumption around 9-10 million tons. The Vice Premier noted that the introduction of duties could negatively affect exports, especially considering that last year's harvest stocks still remain in storage.

Zhumangarin also drew attention to the issues related to the export of corn and oilseed products, where the introduction of regulatory tariffs could lead to a reduction in planting areas and production. The Vice Premier assured that the government considers all aspects and aims for a balance of interests between producers and the country's economy.
