Kazakhstan’s Wheat Exports Approached 7.8 Million Tonnes in the First 10 Months of the Season
Central Asian countries remain the main destination, accounting for 77.5% of total exports
In June 2026, Kazakhstan exported 577.6 thousand tonnes of soft and durum wheat, excluding shipments to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries. According to the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan, this volume was 7.3% higher than in May but 1.3% lower than in June of the previous marketing year. The figures were published by Yevgeny Karabanov, Head of the Analytics Committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, on his Telegram channel.
According to estimates by the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, cumulative wheat exports reached 7.799 million tonnes during the first 10 months of the 2025/26 marketing year, representing a 17% increase compared with the same period of the previous season.
The strongest growth in exports was recorded to Uzbekistan, where shipments increased by 44%. Exports to Afghanistan rose 2.65 times, to Türkiye 27 times, to Iran 360 times, and to Russia 10.6 times.
At the same time, exports declined in several destinations. Shipments to Turkmenistan fell 2.2 times to 23.5 thousand tonnes, exports to Azerbaijan decreased 3.15 times to 214.2 thousand tonnes, deliveries to Latvia declined 1.5 times to 30.1 thousand tonnes, while exports to Italy dropped 40% to 242.2 thousand tonnes.
Wheat exports to China decreased 6.3 times to 23.6 thousand tonnes. However, this decline was offset by an 81.5% increase in feed flour exports, which reached 1.37 million tonnes.
Central Asia remains the primary market for Kazakh wheat, with Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan accounting for 77.5% of total exports, or nearly 6.048 million tonnes, during the first 10 months of the 2025/26 marketing year.
According to Yevgeny Karabanov, Kazakhstan has already exported nearly 89% of its projected wheat export potential for the current marketing year.
Amid record export volumes, the Grain Union of Kazakhstan raised its wheat export forecast for the 2025/26 marketing year by 200 thousand tonnes, bringing the projection to 8.8 million tonnes.
