Grain Crops Harvested from 10.9 Million Hectares in Kazakhstan
Licensed grain receiving enterprises have accepted 4.3 million tonnes of the new harvest — twice as much as a year earlier
As of September 17, grain crops in Kazakhstan had been harvested from 10.9 million hectares, representing 70% of the total harvesting area. Grain output reached 15.5 million tonnes, with an average yield of 14.1 centners per hectare. The figures were reported by Vice Minister of Agriculture Nazgul Khatepova.
Since the new harvest began arriving, licensed grain receiving enterprises across the country have accepted 4.3 million tonnes of grain. This figure is twice the volume recorded during the same period last year.
In the structure of soft wheat received, Grade 3 grain accounts for the largest share at 61%. Grade 4 wheat represents 34%, while the remaining 5% consists of Grade 5 and unclassified wheat.
Kazakhstan's total grain storage capacity is estimated at 30.5 million tonnes. Of this amount, licensed grain receiving enterprises have storage capacity of 13.1 million tonnes, while another 17.4 million tonnes is available at agricultural producers' storage facilities.
The available capacity is sufficient to accommodate the new harvest, taking into account carryover stocks. According to the Qoldau digital portal, licensed grain storage facilities are currently approximately 30% full, holding around 4 million tonnes of grain.
The harvesting of oilseed crops is also continuing at a rapid pace. As of the reporting date, farmers had harvested 1.3 million hectares and produced 1.3 million tonnes of oilseeds. The average oilseed yield stands at 9.7 centners per hectare.
This year, the total area planted with agricultural crops in Kazakhstan amounted to 24.2 million hectares. Of this area, 15.6 million hectares were allocated to grain and leguminous crops.
