427 Wagons of Wheat Sent to Turkistan Region

During the harvesting campaign, the Food Contract Corporation continues to reduce the volume of unallocated grain in its resources. In July–August, the national grain operator sent 427 wagons loaded with wheat to Turkistan Region.

In total, the southern region received 30,000 tonnes of grain products. Shipments were made from elevators in North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions. Class 3 and Class 4 wheat accounted for the majority of the supplied volumes.

The redistribution of grain helps maintain the food balance in Turkistan Region, where wheat production opportunities are limited by climatic and soil conditions.

At the same time, the shipment of grain stocks from northern regions helps free up elevator capacity for storing the new harvest. Earlier, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov instructed that grain receiving infrastructure be prepared for the harvesting campaign in a timely manner.

At the same time, the reduction in unallocated grain volumes does not affect the state reserve. The Food Contract Corporation permanently stores 500,000 tonnes of food grain at its grain storage facilities. These stocks are intended to ensure food security.

In addition, the national operator maintains a permanent feed grain fund totaling 200,000 tonnes. Its resources are used to support poultry and livestock farms, as well as compound feed enterprises. If necessary, the fund can be used in the event of drought, emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances.

Grain stocks are stored both at the grain storage facilities of the Food Contract Corporation's subsidiary, Astyk Koimalary LLP, and at elevators operated by partner organizations. The combined storage capacity of these facilities exceeds 8.9 million tonnes.

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture determines state policy and the main approaches in the field of food security. As the national operator, the Food Contract Corporation is responsible for purchasing and storing grain, as well as redistributing it among the country's regions.

The grain fund is renewed annually through purchases from agricultural producers. After the harvest is completed, farmers participating in the forward purchasing program begin supplying grain to state resources.

In addition, the Food Contract Corporation purchases commercial grain on the market. These purchases are made to replenish and renew existing grain stocks.
