In Kazakhstan, 74% of Soft Wheat Received Is Grade 3

The harvesting campaign continues in Kazakhstan. At present, grain crops have been harvested from 72.5% of the area, with total grain output reaching 16.2 million tonnes. At the same time, 74% of the soft wheat received for storage is classified as Grade 3.

The progress of the harvesting campaign was discussed at a meeting of the operational headquarters chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin. Participants reviewed the pace of harvesting, farmers' access to machinery, fuels and lubricants, and fertilizers, the readiness of grain storage facilities and transport infrastructure, as well as the formation of seed reserves for the 2027 sowing campaign.

Vice Minister of Agriculture Nazgul Khatepova reported on the current situation. This year, Kazakhstan's total sown area amounts to 24.2 million hectares, including 15.6 million hectares of grain and leguminous crops. To date, crops have been harvested from 11.3 million hectares, with an average yield of 14.2 centners per hectare.

The harvesting of oilseed crops is also continuing. Work has been completed on 1.5 million hectares, producing 1.4 million tonnes of oilseeds at an average yield of 9.7 centners per hectare. In addition, 2.7 million tonnes of vegetables, 1.9 million tonnes of melons and gourds, and 1.9 million tonnes of potatoes have been harvested. Overall, the pace of the harvesting campaign is in line with last year's level.

Agricultural producers have been provided with the necessary financing for spring fieldwork and harvesting operations. Under the concessional lending program, around 5.8 thousand agricultural producers have received financing totaling 664.4 billion tenge.

At the same time, the renewal of the agricultural machinery fleet continues. Under the concessional leasing program, more than 7.5 thousand contracts have been signed for the supply of around 8.6 thousand units of machinery with a total value of 288.1 billion tenge. Since the beginning of the year, KazAgroFinance JSC has signed contracts worth 353.9 billion tenge under all leasing programs, providing for the purchase of 10,774 units of machinery.

The early financing mechanism for the 2027 sowing campaign will continue. Applications will open on October 1.

Particular attention was also paid to preparing the seed reserve for next year's sowing campaign. According to regional administrations, 1.7 million tonnes of seeds have been stored, representing 77% of the required amount.

Fertilizer availability has reached 87%. Contracts have been signed and 2.1 million tonnes have been shipped within the planned volume. Regions have been allocated 401 thousand tonnes of diesel fuel for the harvesting campaign, with an additional 41.3 thousand tonnes provided for drying grain and oilseed crops.

More than 130 thousand tractors, 29 thousand combine harvesters and other agricultural machinery are involved in the harvesting campaign.

Since the beginning of the harvest, 4.4 million tonnes of grain have been delivered to licensed grain receiving enterprises across the country. This is 1.5 times higher than in the same period last year, when 3.1 million tonnes were received.

The operational headquarters also discussed the transportation and sale of the new harvest. According to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), 9.3 million tonnes of grain were transported during the first eight months of the year, 13% more than in the same period of 2025. Domestic transportation reached 2.1 million tonnes, an increase of 8%.

Following the start of the new harvest in August, grain transportation reached a record 1.157 million tonnes, an increase of 35%.

From January through August, 7.1 million tonnes of grain were transported for export. Of this amount, 4.8 million tonnes were shipped to Central Asian countries, an increase of 37% compared with the corresponding period. In particular, shipments to Uzbekistan rose by 50% to 3.6 million tonnes, while shipments to Tajikistan increased by 17% to 998 thousand tonnes. A total of 562 thousand tonnes of grain were transported to China, representing growth of 34%.

Following the meeting, Serik Zhumangarin instructed regional administrations to ensure the timely acceptance of the new grain harvest and, if necessary, organize round-the-clock operation of grain storage facilities. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company JSC was instructed to provide the required number of railcars and ensure uninterrupted transportation of the new harvest.
