🌾 Russian Grain Exports in August Decrease by 12.3%
🔹 In August, Russian grain exports decreased by 12.3% compared to the same period last year.
🔹 Wheat exports amounted to 6.06 million tons, which is 6.7% lower than in August of the previous year.
🔹 In the last week of August, exports of key grain crops increased by 19%, with wheat exports up by nearly 36%.
According to preliminary data for August, Russia exported 6.754 million tons of key grain crops, 12.3% less than in the same period last year. This was reported by Interfax, citing monitoring data from the Russian Grain Union (RGU).
Elena Tyurina, head of the analytical department of the RGU, noted that despite the overall decrease, shipments in the last week of August saw a significant increase, surpassing the results of the same period last year. Specifically, exports of key grain crops in the last week of the month increased by 19%, totaling 1.561 million tons. Wheat exports in this period grew by nearly 36%, reaching 1.461 million tons.
However, for the month overall, wheat exports fell by 6.7% compared to August last year, amounting to 6.06 million tons. Barley shipments dropped significantly, from 1.34 million tons to 499,400 tons. Corn exports also fell to 193,000 tons compared to 257,500 tons a year earlier.
For the first two months of the 2024/25 agricultural year (July-August), Russia exported 12.251 million tons of key grains, down 8.1% from the previous season. Of this total, wheat exports accounted for 10.143 million tons, down 8.2%. Barley exports dropped by 11.3% to 1.613 million tons, while corn exports increased by 4.6%, totaling 495,000 tons.
August's results exceeded analysts' expectations thanks to a sharp increase in shipments at the end of the month.
