🫒 Kazakhstan to Begin Olive Oil Production by 2030

 

Kazakhstan has launched an experimental project to grow olive trees. In 2023, the companies QVM Technology, Ordabasy Group, and Ervira, in collaboration with the Georgian partner Olive Georgia, agreed to pilot plantations in the Zhetysu, Turkestan, and Mangystau regions. Initial results have been promising, with 99.7% of the 6,080 saplings successfully taking root. The first harvest is expected in five years, reports the agrosearch.kz analytical center.

In the spring of 2024, new saplings from Spain and Turkey were added to the project. This is expected to diversify the varieties and improve the adaptation of the trees to local conditions. By the end of 2025, Kazakhstani companies plan to plant olive trees across 1,000 hectares.

Scientific supervision of the project is being carried out under the guidance of Professor Pablo Morello from the University of Cordoba (Spain). The team of scientists is analyzing soil properties, climate conditions, and local meteorological data to optimize tree care, irrigation, and nutrition.

A major incentive for the development of this industry will be the construction of a processing plant. QVM Technology plans to launch a facility for olive processing and oil production by 2030. This initiative is expected to create new jobs, increase the added value of products, and strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the agro-industrial export sector.
