Kazakhstan and Turkey Intend to Expand Cooperation in Agricultural Trade

Mutual trade in agricultural products between the two countries increased by more than 25%

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed that the Turkish side adopt a Roadmap for enhancing mutual trade in agricultural products for 2026–2028. The initiative was announced during the sixth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

One of the key topics of the talks was the development of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. According to Akorda, mutual trade in agricultural products between the two countries increased by more than 25% in 2025 and approached 360 million US dollars.

The parties also discussed the implementation of joint investment projects. In particular, Tiryaki Agro is implementing a gluten production project, while Alarko Holding is engaged in the construction of a greenhouse complex.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that under the current geopolitical situation, the transport and logistics sector is gaining strategic importance. According to him, interest in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route continues to grow among foreign countries.

The President of Kazakhstan called on Turkish businesses to participate more actively in projects aimed at increasing cargo transportation through the ports of Kuryk and Aktau.

In addition, the head of state spoke about Kazakhstan’s ongoing efforts to improve the investment climate and invited Turkish investors to implement projects in non-resource sectors of the economy.
