Kazakhstan increased wheat supplies to Afghanistan amid a decline in flour exports
The country ranked third among the largest importers of Kazakh wheat
According to official statistics, Afghanistan has significantly increased its imports of wheat from Kazakhstan.
In the first half of the 2025/26 marketing year, shipments in this direction totaled 507.65 thousand tons of Kazakh wheat, which is more than double the volume of the same period last season (248.65 thousand tons).Following the results of September–February of the 2025/26 MY, Afghanistan ranked third among the largest importers of Kazakh wheat.
At the same time, in the current season, there has been a slight decrease in shipments of wheat flour to the Afghan market, which remains a key destination for this product. Over six months of the 2025/26 MY, flour exports amounted to about 667 thousand tons compared to 685 thousand tons in the same period last season.
Kazakh flour milling enterprises have previously expressed concern over the sharp increase in grain exports and the weakening position of Kazakh flour in global markets.
In addition, Afghanistan has also significantly increased imports of sunflower oil from Kazakhstan.
