Direct procurement of wheat and barley launched in Kazakhstan

Prices are set based on grain quality and key indicators

The Food Contract Corporation JSC has started direct procurement of wheat and barley from the 2024–2025 harvest. The procurement campaign is conducted on EXW terms through accredited elevators with payment upon delivery. Suppliers include agricultural producers and traders. According to the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, this initiative has had a supportive effect on the domestic grain market.

As noted by Yevgeny Karabanov, Head of the Analytical Committee of the Grain Union, in his Telegram channel, the procurement prices of the corporation, including 16% VAT, are as follows:

▪️ soft wheat, grade 3 with gluten 23–24 — 95–97 thousand tenge per ton, depending on test weight, protein content, and falling number;

▪️ soft wheat, grade 3 with gluten 25–26 — 98–100 thousand tenge per ton, depending on test weight and falling number;

▪️ soft wheat, grade 3 with gluten 27 — 110–115 thousand tenge per ton, depending on protein and falling number;

▪️ soft wheat, grade 4 — 90–92 thousand tenge per ton, depending on gluten, test weight, protein, and falling number;

▪️ soft wheat, grade 5 — 88 thousand tenge per ton;

▪️ barley, grade 2 — 89 thousand tenge per ton.

The Food Contract Corporation is the national grain operator of Kazakhstan. It ensures food security, stabilizes the domestic grain market, provides financial support to agricultural producers, and participates in grain exports.
