Alashankou checkpoint increases grain intake at the beginning of the year

Simplified customs procedures and infrastructure modernization reduce processing times and increase capacity

The Alashankou checkpoint started 2026 with a significant increase in grain import volumes. According to local customs data, 180 thousand tons of grain were imported through the checkpoint in January–February, which is 49.5% higher compared to the same period last year.

As reported, at the end of March, customs officers inspected a batch of flaxseed weighing 68 tons, delivered from Kazakhstan, at a specialized inspection site. The inspection was carried out in strict accordance with established procedures.

It is also noted that in December 2025, the laboratory of the Technical Center of Alashankou Customs successfully passed an on-site evaluation under dual national accreditation — the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) and the China Metrology Accreditation (CMA).

According to He Yining, senior inspector of the first customs control and inspection department, a number of measures have been introduced to simplify procedures for imported grain and other bulk cargo. In particular, the “conditional release with subsequent removal” mechanism has reduced the time goods spend at the checkpoint by an average of about five days per batch, significantly improving customs clearance efficiency for foreign trade participants.
