Kazakhstan Plans to Increase Exports of Processed Agricultural Products to Belarus

Sunflower and safflower oils, rapeseed, flax and finished grocery products have been identified among promising goods for the Belarusian market

Kazakhstan is interested in increasing exports of high value-added agricultural products to the Belarusian market. Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Yuri Gorlov discussed prospects for further cooperation, according to the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

During the bilateral talks, Aidarbek Saparov noted that diversification of Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports and an increase in the share of deeply processed products remain among the key areas for developing the country’s agricultural exports.

Currently, more than 51% of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial exports consist of processed products. Belarus is considered one of the promising markets for further increasing supplies.

Products with potential for increased exports include sunflower and safflower oils, finished grocery products, as well as grain and oilseed crops. In particular, the parties discussed supplies of rapeseed, sunflower and flax.

The Minister of Agriculture emphasized that Kazakhstan continues working to increase agricultural export volumes and diversify their structure through products with high added value. According to him, the country’s available raw material resources, production capacities and export potential make it possible to ensure stable supplies of Kazakh products to the Belarusian market.

Belarusian Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov, in turn, expressed interest in further developing cooperation between the two countries in promising areas of the agro-industrial sector.

Cooperation in crop production was one of the separate topics discussed during the talks. The parties considered opportunities to intensify the exchange of experience in breeding and seed production, as well as the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, digital solutions and innovations.

Livestock farming remains another promising area of bilateral cooperation. Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to share its accumulated experience in the development of beef cattle farming.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kazakhstan has implemented major projects to establish modern feedlots, including facilities with a capacity of up to 50,000 head of cattle.

In addition, the country is developing a network of industrial feedlots designed for the simultaneous accommodation of 10,000 or more head of cattle.

Thus, Kazakhstan and Belarus intend to develop cooperation across several areas of the agro-industrial sector, including trade in processed agricultural products, crop production, modern agricultural technologies and livestock farming.
