🔹 In the first eight months of 2024, Kazakhstan exported 2.5 million tons of grain to Central Asia, with the majority—1.8 million tons—sent to Uzbekistan.

🔹 Kazakhstan also exported 1.1 million tons of grain to China, including significant growth in shipments using containers and covered wagons.

🔹 In September, Kazakhstan increased its grain shipments to Central Asia by 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2023, planning to reach 250,000 tons by the end of the month.

Grain exports from Kazakhstan to Central Asian countries grew significantly in 2024, reaching 2.5 million tons in the first eight months.

According to government data, the main volume was sent to Uzbekistan—1.8 million tons, with Tajikistan importing 600,000 tons, and Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan receiving 100,000 tons each.

“In the first 12 days of September, Kazakhstan shipped 132,000 tons of grain to Central Asia, which is 2.5 times more than during the same period in 2023. By the end of the month, the total volume is expected to reach 250,000 tons,” said Bauyrzhan Urinbasarov, Managing Director of JSC “NC “KTZ.”

China remains a key destination for Kazakh grain exports. In the first eight months of 2024, 1.1 million tons of grain were shipped to China, with 666,400 tons transported in containers. Grain shipments in covered wagons, where the grain is packed in bags, doubled to 229,000 tons. The volume of grain transported in grain carriers remained almost unchanged compared to last year, reaching 247,500 tons (96% compared to the previous year). A key trend was the 70% increase in the supply of grain processing products to China—494,100 tons, up from 290,300 tons in 2023.

This rapid growth in export volumes indicates strong demand for Kazakh agricultural products in key markets in Central Asia and China.
