KTZ Reports Overperformance of Cargo Transportation Plan via Altynkol–Khorgos
Altynkol–Khorgos: Record Growth in Cargo Flow and Exports to China
Record cargo turnover volumes have been recorded at the border crossing, opening new opportunities for exporters, including those in the agro-industrial sector.
At the end of 2025, the volume of freight transported through the Altynkol–Khorgos railway border crossing exceeded 16.1 million tons. According to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), this figure surpassed the planned indicators approved within the framework of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD) by 9%.
The key driver of growth was the export of Kazakhstani products to the People’s Republic of China. Shipments in this direction reached 5.3 million tons, which is 20% higher than the planned level.
Container transportation also played a significant role in increasing cargo flows. A total of 3,589 trains passed through Altynkol station, ensuring transit and export deliveries to Europe, Russia, and Central Asian countries. The stability of this route is critically important for the timely delivery of goods and the fulfillment of contractual obligations to foreign partners.
