New Transport Corridor: The President of Kazakhstan Has Initiated the Construction of a Highway from Astana to the Trans-Caspian Route

Completion of the "Dostyk–Moyynty" railway section and the bypass line in Almaty will boost trade between Europe and China

During the National Kurultai meeting, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, announced the launch of strategically important infrastructure projects aimed at significantly improving the country's transport network and strengthening international trade ties.
One of the key initiatives is the construction of a highway that will connect Astana with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, passing through Arkalyk, Turgai, and Irgiz. This new road will reduce the distance between the central and western regions of Kazakhstan by approximately 560 kilometers, making cargo transportation faster and more cost-effective.
Additionally, by 2025, the construction of the Dostyk–Moyynty railway section and the bypass line at Almaty station will be completed. These projects will help increase freight turnover between Europe and China, a crucial factor for Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector, which is actively developing its export potential.
Another major step in modernizing the logistics infrastructure will be the completion of a container hub in the port of Aktau. This facility on the Caspian Sea coast will play a key role in streamlining the storage and redistribution of cargo, including agricultural products.
Furthermore, the Kyzylzhar–Moyynty railway project is set to begin soon, further enhancing Kazakhstan’s transportation connectivity and expanding opportunities for international trade.
The development of road and railway networks is essential for increasing the competitiveness of Kazakhstan’s agriculture. By optimizing logistics, agricultural enterprises can reduce transportation costs, speed up the delivery of products for export, and improve their availability in domestic markets. In the long run, these infrastructure projects could become a key driver of growth for the agricultural sector and enhance Kazakhstan’s attractiveness to international investors.
