Rainfall and High Humidity May Slow the Grain Harvest Campaign in Kazakhstan

During the first ten days of August, agrometeorological conditions in Kazakhstan's main grain-producing regions are expected to be favorable for harvesting operations. However, during the second and third ten-day periods of the month, rainfall and increased air humidity may complicate grain harvesting in the northern, central, and eastern parts of the country. According to Kazhydromet, frequent precipitation is expected in these regions mainly during the second half of August.

Average air temperatures in August are forecast to be 1°C above the climatic norm across most of Kazakhstan.

Temperatures close to normal are expected in the West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Mangystau, and North Kazakhstan regions, across most of the Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola, and Pavlodar regions, as well as in the far northwestern part of the Karaganda Region.

Rainfall totals are expected to remain near normal across most of the country. Above-normal precipitation is forecast for the far north of the West Kazakhstan, Aktobe, and Akmola regions, the western and northern parts of the Kostanay Region, most of the North Kazakhstan Region, the mountainous and foothill areas of the East Kazakhstan and Abai regions, as well as the southeastern parts of the Almaty and Zhetysu regions.

Below-normal rainfall is expected in the southeastern Mangystau Region, southern Aktobe Region, southwestern Ulytau Region, and the southern parts of Kazakhstan.

In western Kazakhstan, temperatures are expected to rise at the beginning of August, while precipitation will mainly affect the Aktobe Region. During the second half of the month, scattered rainfall and slight cooling are forecast, followed by predominantly dry weather toward the end of August.

In northern Kazakhstan, frequent rainfall is expected during the second half of August in the Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, and Akmola regions. In the Pavlodar Region, precipitation is forecast mainly at the beginning of the month. Daytime temperatures are expected to alternate between warmer and cooler periods.

In central Kazakhstan, rainfall is expected mainly in the Karaganda Region during both the first and second halves of August. Higher temperatures are forecast primarily during the first half of the month.

Eastern Kazakhstan is expected to experience frequent temperature fluctuations due to the region's topographical features. Rainfall is forecast in some areas during both the first and second halves of August.

According to Kazhydromet, grain moisture during the first and second ten-day periods of August is expected to range from 12–16%, while straw moisture will range from 14–20%. During the third ten-day period, grain moisture is forecast at 13–17%, straw moisture at 15–20%, with straw moisture in the North Kazakhstan Region reaching up to 23%.
