Grain supplies to China via Alashankou are increasing

Comprehensive measures have accelerated cargo movement across the border

In January–February 2026, grain imports to China through the Alashankou checkpoint (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) reached 180 thousand tons, which is nearly 50% higher compared to the same period last year. This was reported by Xinhua, citing data from the Alashankou city administration.

It is noted that in recent years, measures have been taken in this direction to optimize customs clearance procedures and improve control efficiency. This has reduced the processing time of imported grain at the checkpoint, as well as lowered storage and logistics costs for businesses.

In December 2025, the laboratory of the technological center of Alashankou customs successfully passed dual accreditation from the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) and the China Compulsory Certification (CMA) system.

Amid increased efficiency at the checkpoint, a group of enterprises engaged in processing grain and oilseed crops has begun to form in the Alashankou area. They use imported raw materials to develop processing capacities and expand production chains, which also helps reduce interregional transportation costs.
