KTZ: Grain Export Transportation Volume Increased by 62%

Kazakhstan's Grain Exports by Rail Surge by 62%

According to official data, from January to May 2025, 107 million tonnes of cargo were transported via the railway network of JSC "NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ). This figure is 4.4% higher than during the same period last year, indicating growth in the country's transport and logistics sector.

Of the total cargo volume, 68.7 million tonnes were transported domestically. However, the most notable dynamic is seen in export shipments: 38 million tonnes of cargo were exported abroad, representing an 11.4% increase compared to January–May 2024.

Grain transportation showed particularly strong growth. During the reporting period, the volume of grain transported reached 5.7 million tonnes, which is 54% higher than last year. A significant portion of this increase came from exports: grain shipments abroad rose by 62%, totaling 4.5 million tonnes.

Industry experts note that this positive trend reflects not only last season’s strong harvest but also improved logistics — including timely shipments, schedule coordination, and expansion of export routes.
