🌾 Bringing Idle Elevators Back to Work: Kazakhstan Prepares for a New Harvest

🔹 Kazakhstan is conducting an assessment of idle elevators to prepare them for storing the 2024 harvest. Documents are being processed, and investors are being sought to modernize the storage facilities.

🔹 Export operations to Central Asia and China have intensified, along with the internal movement of grain to free up storage capacity.

🔹 Plans are in place to increase exports and accommodate up to 2 million tons of the new harvest by utilizing additional storage facilities.

In Kazakhstan's grain-growing regions, where a high yield is expected, active work has begun to free elevators from last year’s grain reserves. The National Company "Prodcorporation" has reported that an assessment of idle elevators is currently underway for their potential use in storing the new harvest.

Clearing and Preparing Elevators

Following the assessment, certain elevators have been identified as suitable for receiving the 2024 harvest. Work is already underway with the owners of these facilities to formalize the necessary documents for their operation. However, as noted by Prodcorporation, some grain storage facilities need upgrades to meet the company’s grain preservation standards. These facilities will receive assistance in finding investors to ensure their modernization and continued functionality.

Boosting Exports and Moving Grain Reserves

Simultaneously, Prodcorporation has intensified export operations, directing Kazakhstan’s grain to Central Asia and China. Additionally, grain has been moved to non-grain-producing regions of the country, such as the west and south. Over the past two weeks, more than 100,000 tons of grain have been exported from grain-growing regions, distributed to storage facilities of milling enterprises, poultry farms, and livestock farms.

Plans for the Near Future

Prodcorporation continues to increase the volume of exports and grain transfers to free up more storage capacity for the new harvest. In the near future, it plans to increase transportation volumes to 300,000 tons. At the same time, elevators are being prepared to receive additional volumes of the 2024 harvest. According to company estimates, the connection of additional storage capacities and the activation of export operations will allow for the storage of up to 2 million tons of the new harvest.

These comprehensive measures will ensure that Kazakhstan is prepared for a high harvest and will help avoid storage shortages, maintaining grain quality and ensuring smooth deliveries to both domestic and foreign markets.
