Wheat Prices Continue to Rise in Kazakhstan as Export Activity Remains Subdued

Higher domestic grain prices are accompanied by moderate trading activity on export markets

Wheat prices on Kazakhstan's domestic grain market continued to increase last week. The price of Class III wheat rose to KZT 110,000–115,000 per tonne EXW. High-protein wheat was traded at KZT 118,000 per tonne EXW, while Class IV wheat was priced at KZT 95,000–100,000 per tonne EXW. Feed barley prices remained stable at KZT 89,000–95,000 per tonne EXW.

Trading activity on the export grain market remained moderate. Export prices for Class III wheat held steady at USD 260–270 per tonne DAP Saryagash. At the same time, Class IV wheat strengthened to USD 245–255 per tonne DAP due to limited supplies of high-quality grain. High-protein wheat was offered at USD 285–290 per tonne DAP, while demand for this segment showed slight improvement.

The export barley market remained relatively quiet. Prices stayed within USD 230–245 per tonne FOB Aktau and around USD 220 per tonne DAP Dostyk/Alashankou. In the feed flour segment, demand from China increased slightly, while export prices remained stable at USD 260–270 per tonne DAP Alashankou.
