Rakhat to Expand the Export Geography of Its Confectionery Products
Exports currently account for around 22% of the company’s total confectionery sales
Kazakh confectionery producer LOTTE Rakhat JSC is considering further expansion of its export geography. Among the new destinations, the company plans to enter the markets of South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand.
The company currently operates two modern production facilities located in Almaty and Shymkent. Their combined production capacity exceeds 100,000 tonnes of products per year. The company’s range includes more than 500 items, including chocolate, candies, biscuits and wafers.
A significant share of the company’s products is already sold outside Kazakhstan. Exports account for around 22% of the company’s total sales. Russia remains the largest foreign market, accounting for approximately 65% of export shipments.
The company’s confectionery products are also available in the markets of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, as well as in China, Mongolia, Afghanistan and Germany. In 2026, the company began supplying products to Latvia.
The expansion of Kazakh products in foreign markets is supported by government measures for domestic producers. In particular, financial and insurance instruments are used to assist companies in entering new international markets.
At the same time, LOTTE Rakhat JSC continues to modernize its production capacities. Over the past several years, investments in technological development and production expansion have amounted to approximately 19.4 billion tenge.
Of this amount, more than 7.1 billion tenge was allocated to the development of the production facility in Shymkent. The company is developing new production areas there, including the manufacture of wafers and corn snacks.
Today, the company produces more than 80 types of chocolate bars. The enterprise operates a complete technological cycle, from processing cocoa beans to manufacturing finished confectionery products.
Cocoa mass, cocoa butter and cocoa powder, which are used as the main components of chocolate, are produced directly at the enterprise.
Quality control is carried out at every stage of the production process. Each incoming batch of raw materials undergoes inspection. Specialists also monitor compliance with recipes and technological parameters through to the production of finished goods. This approach helps maintain consistent taste, texture, appearance and shelf life of the products.
The company’s production standards have also received recognition at the national level. In June 2026, LOTTE Rakhat JSC became the winner of the regional Best Product of Kazakhstan 2026 competition and exhibition in the Best Food Products category.
The company is certified in accordance with international ISO standards, HACCP systems and Halal requirements. The relevant certifications provide additional opportunities for further expanding the presence of its products in foreign markets.
The company continues to develop its export business and represent Kazakh confectionery products outside the country. South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand may become the next markets for expanding supplies.
The history of Rakhat began in 1942, when confectionery factories from Moscow and Kharkiv were evacuated to Alma-Ata. Despite wartime conditions, the equipment was preserved, installed and put into operation, with production adapted to the new circumstances.
In 1992, the Alma-Ata Confectionery Factory was transformed into Rakhat Joint Stock Company.
A new stage in the company’s development began in 2013, when the South Korean confectionery company LOTTE Confectionery acquired a controlling stake.
