Kazakhstan’s national railway company, KTZ, is actively developing its terminal network, which contributes to increasing cargo volumes and maintaining stable transportation tariffs. This was reported by representatives of JSC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ).

According to the company, there are currently five operating terminals, including one of the largest dry ports in China, located in the city of Xi’an. This port handles up to 40% of all cargo transported by container trains.

In the coming years, KTZ plans to significantly expand its infrastructure. By 2025, the company aims to complete the construction of 5 more terminals, followed by an additional 4 facilities in 2026.

Container transportation is demonstrating consistent growth. Over the past three years, volumes have increased by 30%—from 1 million TEU in 2021 to an estimated 1.3 million TEU in 2024. Particular attention is being given to routes along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM), where volumes have increased 25 times during the same period.

The development of the terminal network is a key element in strengthening Kazakhstan's transit potential, opening up new opportunities for international logistics and integrating the country into global trade routes.
