Kazakhstan Prevents Entry of Contaminated Product Shipments from the Netherlands and Armenia
Administrative proceedings have been initiated over the identified violations, and the case materials have been submitted to court
At the phytosanitary control post of Almaty International Airport, state inspectors of the Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan identified shipments of imported products contaminated with a dangerous quarantine pest — western flower thrips.
The quarantine pest was detected in a shipment of salad greens imported from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as in a shipment of 600 cut flowers brought in from the Republic of Armenia.
Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the owners of the products under Part 2 of Article 400 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences, “Violation of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of plant quarantine.” The case materials have been submitted to court for a procedural decision.
The Committee for State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan continues to carry out enhanced phytosanitary control at checkpoints across the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The measures are aimed at preventing the entry and spread of particularly dangerous quarantine pests, ensuring the country’s phytosanitary safety, and protecting the domestic agro-industrial complex.
