Kazhydromet presents preliminary drought forecast for August
Moderate drought is expected in several districts of Kazakhstan in August, while conditions in most regions are forecast to remain close to normal
Kazhydromet has published a preliminary forecast of moisture conditions for August, prepared on the basis of calculations using the Standardized Precipitation Index.
According to the forecast, moderately wet conditions are expected in the Timiryazevo and Yesil districts of the North Kazakhstan Region, while moisture levels in the rest of the region are forecast to remain within the normal range.
In the Kostanay Region, moderately wet weather is expected in the Uzunkol and Kamysty districts, while conditions in the remaining districts are forecast to be close to normal.
In the West Kazakhstan Region, moderate drought is likely in the Bokeyorda and Zhanibek districts, while moisture indicators across the rest of the region are expected to remain within the normal range.
In the Aktobe Region, moderate drought is forecast in the Shalkar and Irgiz districts, while normal moisture conditions are expected in the other districts.
In the Atyrau Region, signs of moderate drought are expected in the Kurmangazy District, while moisture levels in the remaining districts are forecast to be close to normal.
In the Zhetysu Region, moderately dry conditions are expected in the Alakol and Aksu districts, while conditions in the rest of the region are forecast to remain close to normal.
In the Zhambyl Region, moderate drought is forecast in the Moiynkum, Kordai, Sarysu, Talas, Shu, Zhambyl and Baizak districts. Moisture conditions in the rest of the region are expected to remain close to normal.
In the Turkistan Region, moderately dry conditions are expected in the Arys, Sozak, Ordabasy, Shardara, Tulkibas and Baidibek districts, while moisture levels in the remaining districts are forecast to remain within the normal range.
In the Kyzylorda Region, moderate drought is expected in the Aral, Kazaly, Karmakshy and Shieli districts, as well as in the city of Kyzylorda. Conditions in the rest of the region are forecast to be close to normal.
In the Akmola, Mangystau, Karaganda, Ulytau, Pavlodar, East Kazakhstan, Abai and Almaty regions, moisture conditions are expected to remain within the climatic norm, according to preliminary data.
Kazhydromet noted that the forecast is preliminary and may be adjusted as necessary as new meteorological data become available.
