Kazakhstan and Estonia Discuss Expanding Freight Transportation to Europe

The parties discussed the development of transport corridors, multimodal transportation, and new logistics services between Central Asia and Europe

Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) Talgat Aldybergenov met with Merle Kurvits, Chairwoman of the Management Board of Estonian Railways. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding freight transportation, developing transport infrastructure, and launching new logistics services connecting Central Asia and Europe.

One of the key topics of the meeting was cooperation with Estonia's seaports. The participants reviewed measures aimed at increasing freight transportation volumes along the Kazakhstan – Baltic States – Europe route.

Representatives of the railway companies confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening long-term cooperation and discussed the implementation of joint initiatives within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Special attention was paid to the digitalization of the transport sector and the improvement of infrastructure monitoring systems. In addition, the parties discussed opportunities for developing multimodal transportation and attracting new cargo flows.
