Sugar prices rise in several regions of Kazakhstan

Sugar prices have increased in several regions of Kazakhstan. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that existing reserves are sufficient and there is no risk of a sugar shortage.
According to the ministry, the increase in sugar prices is due to seasonal factors.
The Ministry of Agriculture reported that the country has accumulated sugar reserves sufficient for three months. If prices rise sharply, local authorities will be able to release sugar from regional stabilization funds onto the market.
This year, four Kazakh enterprises will process sugar beet. In addition to the three existing plants, a new processing line will begin operating at the Taraz plant.
At the same time, Kazakhstan remains partially dependent on imported sugar. Refined sugar is supplied from Russia and Belarus, while raw sugar for further processing is imported from Latin American countries.
