Feedlot with Capacity for 50,000 Head of Cattle to Launch in Turkestan Region

A new feedlot operated by Turkestan Agro.kz LLP is scheduled to begin operations in the Turkestan Region this August. Designed to accommodate 50,000 head of cattle at a time, the facility will become one of the largest projects in the history of Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The project is being implemented under the program aimed at replicating the successful experience of the North Kazakhstan Region. State support has been directed toward the construction of the feedlot and the introduction of modern irrigation systems. To date, the company has already purchased 30,000 head of high-performance cattle.

The production system is based on a modern Australian “grid” technology that enables efficient livestock distribution, reduces animal stress, and improves productivity. Feeding, housing, and veterinary services are fully automated, while all operations comply with international biosecurity standards.

Particular emphasis has been placed on developing the company's own feed base. Modern sprinkler irrigation systems are being introduced across 7,000 hectares of farmland, with 28 irrigation machines already installed. The enterprise currently produces up to 500 tons of feed per day.

The site also operates a feed mill with a capacity of 20 tons of pelleted feed per hour. In the future, the company plans to build another plant capable of producing up to 1 million tons of feed annually.

The company's products are already supplied to the domestic market and exported to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The next phase of the project includes the construction of a meat processing complex with a capacity of up to 1,500 head of cattle and 5,000 head of small ruminants per shift. The facility will focus on deep processing and the production of high value-added products.

Finished products are planned to be sold both domestically and internationally, with China and Türkiye identified as key export markets.

During a working visit to the Turkestan Region, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov stated that the industry's objective is not only to increase livestock numbers but also to build a modern and competitive full-cycle meat production system.

According to the minister, Kazakhstan is consistently implementing investment projects, expanding its feed base, introducing advanced technologies, improving breeding programs, and increasing processing capacity. He emphasized that, with the support of the President, livestock farming has become one of the main growth drivers of the country's agricultural sector, and the government will continue creating favorable conditions for investment and further industry development.
