Kazakhstan and Pakistan Open a New Route for Flour Exports

Kazakhstan Targets Pakistan Market for Major Flour Exports

On November 26 in Karachi, the Union of Grain Processors of Kazakhstan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the major export-import company M.A. International and the Pakistan Business Council. The event was supported by QazTrade JSC, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Pakistan, and the country's Chamber of Foreign Commerce.

The document is aimed at developing long-term cooperation in the export of Kazakh wheat flour and its processed products. It is designed to strengthen trade and economic ties and expand mutual supplies of food products between the countries.

The Union of Grain Processors emphasized that Pakistan, with a population of over 250 million, represents one of the most promising markets in the region. Stable demand for food products opens up significant opportunities for Kazakh exporters. An additional factor is the active development of international transport corridors and logistics routes, which increase the competitiveness of Kazakh products.

According to official data, exports of Kazakh flour to Pakistan have not been carried out previously, at least since 2006. Wheat shipments were recorded only in the 2007/08 marketing year in a volume of about 115,000 tons, and in 2024, a small batch of 70 tons was shipped.

According to QazTrade information, for the period of January–September 2025, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Pakistan reached $95.8 million, which is 2.3 times higher than last year's figure. Exports from Kazakhstan grew 6.1 times and amounted to $56 million, mainly due to oil, legumes, and flax seeds.

The conclusion of the memorandum opens new opportunities for Kazakh producers of grain products and can become a starting point for regular supplies to one of the largest markets in the region.
