International analysts expect growth in global grain production and stocks

The upward revision is driven by increased corn production in Argentina, while the consumption outlook has been adjusted downward

According to the April report of the International Grains Council (IGC), global grain production in the current season may reach a record 2.474 billion tons. This is 4 million tons higher than the March estimate and significantly exceeds the previous marketing year’s level of 2.328 billion tons.

The upward revision is primarily due to an increase in the corn production forecast in Argentina by 4.5 million tons, bringing it to a record 63 million tons.

At the same time, the global grain consumption forecast has been reduced by 1 million tons compared to the previous month. It is noted that a decline in wheat use for food purposes, particularly in India, more than offsets the increase in corn use for feed.

Amid higher supply and lower demand, experts have raised the estimate of ending stocks by 6 million tons to 638 million tons.

In addition, analysts have revised the forecast for global grain trade in the 2025/26 marketing year. The figure has been increased by 2 million tons compared to the March report and is now estimated at 451 million tons, which is 27 million tons higher than the previous season.
