Kazakhstan Intends to Increase Agricultural Exports to Mongolia
Mutual Trade in Agricultural Products Between the Two Countries Grew by 10% in the First Quarter of 2026
Kazakhstan is ready to expand supplies of agricultural products to the Mongolian market. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov, during a meeting with Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister Nyamtaishiryn Nomtoibayar.
According to the head of the agricultural ministry, trade turnover in agricultural products between the two countries continues to grow. In the first quarter of 2026, the volume of mutual trade increased by 10%. Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to boost exports of grain, flour, sunflower oil, rice, and fruit and vegetable products.
The parties discussed key areas of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. Particular attention was given to the development of bilateral trade, improvement of logistics infrastructure, cooperation in agricultural science, as well as veterinary and phytosanitary control.
Nyamtaishiryn Nomtoibayar noted that Mongolia views Kazakhstan as an important and promising partner in the agricultural sector. According to him, the two countries share a wide range of common interests covering trade, logistics, and regional cooperation. Mongolia is interested in expanding trade turnover, developing reliable transport and logistics routes, and strengthening interregional ties. He emphasized that consistent joint efforts are crucial for implementing planned initiatives.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to phytosanitary safety and plant quarantine issues. The competent authorities of both countries continue to work on a draft memorandum of cooperation. The document provides for the exchange of information on the phytosanitary situation, coordination of measures to identify and diagnose quarantine pests, and harmonization of regulatory requirements and control procedures.
The Kazakh side also proposed considering joint projects in the seed production sector, including grain crop production.
