Kazakhstan becomes a key supplier of corn to Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan strengthens its position as Uzbekistan’s top corn supplier

In the first seven months of 2025, Uzbekistan imported a significant volume of corn, with the lion’s share of these supplies coming from neighboring Kazakhstan. According to the National Committee of Statistics, total imports reached 70.8 thousand tons, amounting to 20.9 million US dollars. This is 1.7 million dollars more compared to the same period last year, as reported by yuz.uz.

Kazakhstan in the lead
Among all exporting countries, Kazakhstan confidently holds the leading position. It supplied 42.3 thousand tons of corn, covering the bulk of imports. Kyrgyzstan ranked second with 24.2 thousand tons, while Turkey closed the top three with 1.9 thousand tons. Smaller volumes were imported from China (1.5 thousand tons) and other countries (786.4 tons).
The growth of corn imports, especially from Central Asian countries, reflects several trends. Firstly, it highlights the strengthening of regional trade relations. Secondly, it demonstrates the rising demand for corn in Uzbekistan, which is used across various sectors — from livestock farming to the food industry. This also shows that Uzbekistan is diversifying its suppliers, while still relying heavily on its closest neighbors.
