Chinese business outlines key investment areas in Kazakhstan

Particular focus is placed on the country’s transit and logistics potential

Chinese businesses are showing the greatest interest in investment projects in Kazakhstan in sectors such as industry, infrastructure, transport and logistics, energy, and the agro-industrial complex. This became known during the first session of the Overseas Investment Fair 2026, a new specialized platform established by China to promote overseas investment activities of its companies.

The forum was held at the Shanghai Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone, which is being developed as one of the key international centers for investment and business cooperation.

As part of the event, the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Shanghai organized a separate panel session dedicated to presenting the country’s investment potential. Consul General N. Akkoshkarov informed participants about the measures being taken to improve Kazakhstan’s investment climate.

Special attention during the discussions was given to Kazakhstan’s transit and logistics capabilities as a Eurasian hub. The country provides access to the markets of the EAEU, Central Asia, and Europe, and plays an important role in integrating the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
