Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov held a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Seyed Mohammad Atabak. During the talks, the parties discussed further development of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector, expansion of bilateral trade in agricultural products, and strengthening investment collaboration.

“Kazakhstan attaches great importance to expanding cooperation with Iran in the agricultural sector. Our markets complement each other, as evidenced by the steady growth in mutual agricultural trade,” Aidarbek Saparov stated.

At the end of 2025, trade turnover in agricultural products between Kazakhstan and Iran increased by 55.8%, reaching USD 342 million. Agricultural products accounted for 79% of the total bilateral trade volume.

Exports of Kazakh agricultural products to the Iranian market grew by 97%, reaching USD 238.5 million. Grain exports more than doubled, totaling 1.1 million tons worth USD 225.3 million.

Particular attention during the meeting was given to increasing grain exports to Iran, as well as expanding supplies of beef and lamb that meet international veterinary and halal standards. The parties also highlighted the significant potential for exports of vegetable oils and other food products to the Iranian market.

Seyed Mohammad Atabak emphasized Iran’s interest in further strengthening trade and economic ties with Kazakhstan.

“Kazakhstan is an important partner of Iran in the region. We are interested in increasing bilateral trade, expanding agricultural product supplies, developing logistics routes, and implementing joint projects in processing and agro-industrial cooperation,” said Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade.

Investment cooperation was also a key topic of discussion. Aidarbek Saparov invited Iranian investors to participate in projects related to the production and deep processing of agricultural products, including grain and oilseed processing projects.

Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further developing cooperation across key areas of the agro-industrial sector.
