North Kazakhstan to Sow 3.3 Million Hectares of Grain for 2025 Harvest
North Kazakhstan Region maintains its focus on diversifying agricultural lands, keeping grain sowing areas at last year's level

The North Kazakhstan Region (NKR) has announced its sowing structure for the 2025 harvest. Grain crops will cover 3.3 million hectares, maintaining the same level as last year. This information was shared during a regional administration meeting, reports MTRK.
As of December 2024, the region’s agricultural sector recorded a remarkable growth of 135.9%. This increase is attributed to a 147.8% rise in crop production and a 101.5% growth in livestock production.
In 2024, the gross harvest of grain and leguminous crops amounted to over 6 million tons, with an average yield of 18.6 quintals per hectare. These results were achieved through strict adherence to agricultural technologies, including fertilizer application and high-quality seed preparation. For the 2025 harvest, 470,000 tons of seeds have already been stocked.
To meet the Ministry of Agriculture's targets, diversification of sown areas will continue. According to the first deputy akim of the region, Marat Tansmaganbetov, the total sowing area will reach 4.4 million hectares in 2025, including 760,000 hectares for oilseeds and 392,000 hectares for forage crops.
Farmers in the region have already received 17 billion tenge as part of an early financing program for spring fieldwork and harvesting, with 10 billion tenge provided through SPC "Soltüstik."
NKR remains one of Kazakhstan's top three grain-producing regions. In 2024, the gross grain harvest reached 6.2 million tons, with an average yield of 18.6 quintals per hectare, significantly surpassing the 2023 figures (3.74 million tons and 11.2 quintals/ha).
