SovEcon Lowers Forecast for Russian Wheat Exports in the 2026/27 Season

Restricted navigation in the Sea of Azov continues to affect export expectations

The SovEcon analytical center has revised downward its forecast for Russian wheat shipments to foreign markets in the 2026/27 marketing year. The adjustment was prompted by the continuing effective suspension of navigation in the Sea of Azov.

According to the updated estimate, wheat exports from Russia may reach 44.6 million tonnes. This is 1.9 million tonnes below the previously announced forecast.

At the same time, experts lowered their estimate for Russia’s total exports of grains and pulses in the current season from 56.1 million tonnes to 53.8 million tonnes.

SovEcon noted that it does not expect full navigation in the Sea of Azov to resume in the coming weeks. At the same time, analysts allow for the possibility of a partial recovery in trading activity later in the season.
