Grain Yields in Kyrgyzstan Exceed Last Year’s Level
Harvesting has been completed on 59.3% of the planned area, while gross grain production has reached nearly 1.07 million tonnes
The active phase of the harvesting campaign continues in Kyrgyzstan. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the republic, farmers had harvested 365,900 hectares of grain crops by the end of last week.
Thus, harvesting has been completed on 59.3% of the planned area. Gross grain production in the country has reached 1 million 69,800 tonnes.
The average grain yield in the current season exceeds last year’s level. It currently stands at 27.6 centners per hectare, compared with 24.8 centners per hectare a year earlier.
The ministry separately highlighted the results of the wheat harvest. As of the reporting date, wheat had been harvested from an area of 205,700 hectares.
Gross wheat production amounted to 617,500 tonnes.
Among the regions, Chuy Region leads in terms of grain harvested. Farmers in the region have collected 663,000 tonnes of grain.
In Osh Region, 204,000 tonnes of grain crops have been harvested to date.
