The import of contaminated sunflower seeds into Kazakhstan has been prevented

Enhanced control is aimed at protecting the agricultural sector

State inspectors of quarantine phytosanitary control prevented a potentially hazardous batch of products from entering the domestic market.

During the inspection of a shipment of sunflower seeds weighing 14.3 tons, imported from the Republic of Belarus (country of origin — USA), contamination with sunflower phomopsis was detected.

This disease poses a threat to agricultural crops, as it can lead to reduced yields and deterioration in product quality.

Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the owner of the quarantined goods, and the case materials have been sent to court.

Control measures to strengthen phytosanitary security at the border and prevent the import of contaminated products are ongoing.
