Kazakhstan Has Prepared Nearly 20 Million Tonnes of Feed for the Winter Period
Regions continue building reserves of hay, haylage, silage, straw, and concentrated feed
Kazakhstan continues its nationwide feed harvesting campaign in preparation for the upcoming winter housing period for livestock. According to operational data from regional authorities, as of August 5, agricultural producers had prepared 19.8 million tonnes of feed. This represents approximately 77% of the planned hay harvesting target.
So far, the country has harvested 17.1 million tonnes of hay, 1.5 million tonnes of haylage, 362.3 thousand tonnes of concentrated feed, 91.7 thousand tonnes of silage, and 777.2 thousand tonnes of straw.
To ensure a stable winter housing season and establish emergency reserves, Food Contract Corporation JSC has created a feed reserve totaling 201.3 thousand tonnes of grain. If necessary, these reserves will be used to supply agricultural producers with feed resources.
Feed harvesting continues across all regions of Kazakhstan. Before the start of the 2026–2027 winter housing period, the country plans to prepare 25.7 million tonnes of hay, 2.3 million tonnes of haylage, 2.8 million tonnes of silage, 4.8 million tonnes of straw, and 5.7 million tonnes of concentrated feed.
