Infected Sunflower Seeds Imported from Russia Detected in Akkol District

A quarantine object was found in a batch of products imported from Russia’s Krasnodar region

Authorities in the Akmola Region have identified a case involving the import of infected sunflower seeds. The violation was discovered by a state inspector for plant protection and quarantine of the territorial inspection of Akkol District during an inspection of quarantined products.

It was established that 0.019 tonnes of sunflower seeds had been imported into the district from the Russian Federation, specifically from Krasnodar in the Krasnodar region. Inspection results revealed the presence of a quarantine object — sunflower phomopsis — in the products.

Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the owner of the infected products. The case materials have been forwarded to court for further consideration.
