Kazakhstan Expands Cooperation with Brazil and Argentina in Livestock Industry

The parties discussed the development of genetics, breeding, and the supply of pedigree livestock to Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan continues to expand international cooperation in the agricultural sector by building long-term partnerships with leading global centers of expertise in livestock production. As part of this effort, Vice Minister of Agriculture Amangaliy Berdalin paid a working visit to Brazil and Argentina.

The main purpose of the trip was to strengthen strategic cooperation in genetics and breeding, develop imports of highly productive pedigree livestock, and introduce advanced agricultural technologies.

In Brazil, the Kazakh delegation took part in Agrishow 2026, the largest agricultural exhibition in Latin America. Discussions focused on exchanging experience in breeding Angus and Hereford cattle, developing biotechnologies including embryo transplantation, and establishing direct supplies of pedigree livestock to Kazakhstan.

The Vice Minister held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of the Federative Republic of Brazil, as well as with the Zebu Breeders Association.

At the end of 2025, trade turnover in the agricultural sector between Kazakhstan and Brazil increased by 10% and reached 89.5 million US dollars.

The parties noted that the potential for cooperation in the agricultural sector is much broader and agreed to intensify joint efforts to further increase bilateral trade volumes.

Members of the delegation also visited Halim Laboratory and Agropecuaria 3G, companies specializing in the genetics of Senepol and Brangus breeds for beef production.

In Buenos Aires, meetings were held with the leadership of Argentina’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, as well as representatives of business and industry circles.

The discussions covered the expansion of bilateral cooperation, including technology transfer, development of scientific ties, and implementation of joint investment projects.

Amangaliy Berdalin emphasized that livestock development is one of the priorities of Kazakhstan’s state agricultural policy. In this regard, a Comprehensive Livestock Development Plan has been developed, providing concessional loans at 6% annual interest for the purchase of pedigree livestock, as well as investment subsidies aimed at increasing productivity and technological modernization of the sector.

According to the Vice Minister, Argentina is one of the world leaders in livestock production, and for Kazakhstan the priority remains the transfer of advanced solutions in genetics and breeding, as well as the implementation of joint projects capable of ensuring qualitative growth of the industry.

Special attention was paid to cooperation with Argentina’s National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA). In the future, cooperation is planned to move to the practical implementation of joint scientific and technological initiatives.

The delegation also visited advanced livestock farms in Buenos Aires Province, where modern pedigree accounting and breeding systems, as well as best practices for breeding highly productive cattle breeds including Angus, were presented.
