🌍 Kazakhstan Increased Wheat Exports to Iran by 30 Times
Kazakhstan annually exports 8–9 million tons of grain crops, including 6.5–7.5 million tons of wheat. The export geography spans over 40 countries, including Central Asian states, Afghanistan, China, Turkey, Iran, Italy, and Tunisia, according to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
As of November, total grain exports reached 6.3 million tons, including 2.37 million tons of new harvest grain, which is 52% higher than the same period in 2023.
Significant growth is noted in supplies to Uzbekistan (+42%), Tajikistan (+49%), China (+17%), Afghanistan (+71%), and Iran — from 10,000 tons to 299,000 tons, a 30-fold increase.
Thanks to this dynamic growth, the forecast for the year is optimistic. The total export potential is expected to reach 12 million tons, with priority markets including Central Asia, Afghanistan, China, Italy, and other buyers.
In addition, Kazakhstan is exploring opportunities to expand its export geography, including routes to Azerbaijan, Iraq, Iran, several North African countries, and the European Union. To overcome logistical barriers, the country plans to utilize the infrastructure of the Black Sea and Baltic Sea ports more actively.
Previously, Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev pointed out a reduction in wheat exports at a government meeting on October 23, 2024.
